Alfredo Jaar, the Chilean-born artist, architect, and filmmaker, understands that the visibility of art—its ability to generate public discourse—presents a political charge. For several decades, Jaar has taken on the responsibility to raise awareness of dire societal problems on a global scale. This work challenges visitors to imagine the photograph inside the box, which remains invisible Witholding the image, Jaar attempt to break through the filters we routinely apply to our perception to shield us from personal tragedy around us.

Dear Joachim,
Thank you for sharing the pictures, this is really helpful.
Alfredo likes the pedestal and plexi case. Could you give us the height of the pedestal? Would it be possible to produce a smaller plexi case, one that wouldn't be as high?
As for the credits, I can confirm they should be:
Alfredo Jaar
Real Pictures (Camp), 1994/1995
photo archive box with Cibachrome print
box: 2 x 11 x 8 3/4 inches
I hope this is not a problem to change it to this title.
Many thanks,
Laure.

Dear Laure, I thought it might be helpful to send an image of the shorter bonnet on our display case. This might be preferable.
Best,
