Subject: Marcel Duchamp's nationality
Dear Suzanne, Laura, and Michelle:
In working on my labels for “Emerging Modernism,” I realized that Duchamp is mistakenly listed in our database as “French.” He became an American citizen in 1954, so “American” would be better. – We could also consider “Franco-American.” – But we can’t accurately list him as “French”!
Cheers,
Anne
