Object Description

Per Jim Higginbotham 10/19/2010:
Side A: Mounted youth approaching a woman, older man, and another youth (his Family?)
Side B: Youth flanked by woman and older man (parents?)

The depictions on both sides correspond to farewell or departure scenes. The youth on both sides (mounted & wearing the hat or petasos) is the character leaving. The rest are probable members of his family. This type of scene is common on funerary gifts such as this pelike.
